We spent our first full day in Bangkok. It is unlike anywhere I've been. The sidewalks double as scooter passing lanes. Crossing the street is a leap of faith, but somehow the collective behavior of the traffic seems to let you through. We have a 26th floor apartment that is beautiful. From there I saw a man roll what must have been a 180 pound LPG tank across 3 lanes of traffic and it gave me courage. We took the sky train twice today and it provided a whole new meaning to personal space.
We also took two water taxis on the main river Chao Praya, one of which left the dock before I had my foot in the boat. We rode a James Bond-like long tail boat that wound through the canals of Bangkok. We're not as cool as James, but it
was one of the most interesting parts of the day..
