We visited Eungella National Park in search of the elusive platypus (semi-aquatic egg-laying mammal of action for Phineas and Ferb fans). We went on a bush walk and spent a couple of hours with eyes peeled, but unfortunately, the platypi eluded us. We did find LEECHES! Dozens, if not hundreds, of them. They stand on their heads waiting for something to come by to hook with their tails. Then they climb your legs like creepy, speedy, little Slinkeys. They came out with the rain. At least they weren't snakes. So much much for the perfect, secluded campsite we were planning to stay at. Instead we stayed in Sarina and listened to coal or ore trains through the night. The first actual trains we saw in Australia and they were electric.
