Singapore

We left Gold Coast, Australia for Singapore, the Lion City. The view from the approach was a large lit-up urban center surrounded by hundreds of ships. Eighty miles north of the equator, on arrival, the first thing I noticed was the stifling humidity. My glasses fogged most every time I left a building.

We are in Singapore to visit Alan and Rebecca, Ann-Kristin's brother and sister-in-law and their son Nathan. We enjoyed a 4-night stay.   The kids stayed with their aunt, uncle and cousin. Ann-Kristin and Eric stayed in a very fancy and beautiful hotel. I knew for sure that we were out of our league when I found the cost to launder our clothing was very nearly what they were worth.

Alan works for Google and gave us a tour of their Singapore headquarters. We had the best breakfast of the trip in the Google cafeteria. If I worked there, I'd weigh 50 pounds more. We visited a few hawkers centers and sampled local cuisine, Haw-Par Villa (aka Tiger Balm Park, a bygone amusement park with virtuous themes), the Asian Cultural Museum and Gardens by the Bay (Zoe took hundreds of photos I’ll have to post separately).
