Prague

We enjoyed Prague. It is a beautifully ornate city attracting hordes of tourists. Buildings in Prague have a lot of flourish, spires, gargoyles and elaborate doorways. We ate at the "Original Pilsner Urquell Restaurant." It was great. The next day we ate at the "First Original Pilsner Urquell Restaurant." It was even better.

We stayed in an apartment in a building once lived in by W. A. Mozart. It inspired Jack to compose the song "I'll be coming around he mountain without my pants on." I suspect I may have been the real inspiration. We had to move to a second apartment 4 blocks closer to the Old Town and 200 years older. Both were nice.

We visited the Prague Castle, the largest castle complex in the world. It was more interesting than impressive. St. Vitus Cathedral was spectacular, especially on the inside. There were displays of armor and weaponry dating back to 600 BC and sadistic torture devices.

The kids had been wanting to ride Segways since we first saw them in Istanbul. Everywhere we tried had an age or weight limit. In Prague we found a place run by young Ukrainians more than happy to rent to us so we cruised more or less the whole city terrorizing pedestrians. Accessibility was exceptional.

A poppy field in the Czech Republic -  once we crossed the Czech border, the size of the fields increased 5- to 10-fold, probably a legacy of Soviet collective farming.
